The United States and the Philippines hold the largest joint military exercise ever

This joint exercise lasted 12 days on the Philippine island of Luzong with the participation of nearly 9,000 US and Filipino troops. The exercise will include maritime security, amphibious operations, live-fire training, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

Speaking in Manila, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Andres Centino, said that the Balikatan exercises show the friendship and reflect the “deep alliance” between the two countries.

The Balikatan exercise, which was originally held annually, was canceled in 2020 and scaled down in 2021 due to the development of the COVID-19 epidemic.
