Liver Cancer Cancer is the 6th most common cancer in the world with over 782,000 people diagnosed each year. According to the report of the Global Cancer Registry (GLOBOCAN) in 2018, the world has about 841,000 new cases of liver cancer each year and 781,000 people die from this disease. Liver cancer is also the cancer with the highest new incidence in our country in 2018 with 25,335 cases and especially the death rate due to this disease is almost equal to the number of infected people.

As a disease that threatens the health of many people, more than 70% of liver cancer patients are diagnosed in the middle and late stages. This makes liver cancer even more scary.

Who should be screened for liver cancer?

– People who carry risk factors such as being infected with hepatitis B and C viruses; People with cirrhosis, alcoholic hepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver.

– People with a family history of liver cancer.

– People with metabolic liver diseases.

Can liver cancer be completely cured?

All cancers in general and liver cancer in particular can be completely cured when detected at an early stage with the right and effective treatment.

Liver cancer, if detected early, can be intervened by methods such as surgery, embolization, high-frequency wavelengths… for treatment. However, the characteristic of liver cancer is that the symptoms are not clear in the early stages, when detected, the disease is already at a late stage. The treatment at this time to prolong life, limit metastasis… but it is difficult to cure completely.
