The WSJ reported that billionaire Roman Abramovich and Ukrainian peace negotiators developed symptoms of suspected poisoning after a meeting in Kiev earlier this month. After Britain, Canada imposed sanctions on five Russian individuals, including billionaire Roman Abramovich, and banned 32 Russian companies and government organizations from receiving defense equipment or supplies from the country. Individuals on the sanctions list will have their assets frozen and banned from doing business in Canada.
Prime Minister Justine Trudeau said the Canadian operations of steelmaker Evraz – where Abramovich is the largest shareholder – would not be affected by the move.
