The miracle that surprised the doctor

Father Hoang Duy Binh’s day in Shandong (China) starts at 7 am. His 2-year-old daughter would wake up and cry for half an hour. Since then, Mr. Hoang has cleaned the room, toilet, dressed his daughter, and had to prepare breakfast. At all times, the 71-year-old man’s forehead was covered with sweat.

But feeding the baby is the hardest job. Each meal this father will take from 45 minutes to an hour to finish a bowl of rice for his daughter. The girl has a habit of eating street food, making her father often run after her while holding a bowl of rice.

Just like that, a day goes by with this father that feeds him, plays with him, cooks, does laundry and follows him everywhere at all times.

At the age of 71, unlike other old men, Mr. Hoang’s son’s nail clippers do not require glasses. To maintain fitness, this man usually exercises for an hour a day. “I have to try to live a long life so that I can raise my children,” he said.

The appearance of a young daughter with Mr. Hoang was an “accident” but brought him moments of true fatherhood, which he had not really felt with his two children before.

His wife, Ms. Dien Tan Cuc suffered a cerebral infarction in 2018. During the treatment, she took a Northern medicine. Ten years after menopause, Ms. Dien suddenly had her period again and in February 2019, at the age of 65, she suddenly became pregnant. That year, Mr. Hoang was 68 years old.

Doctors at Shandong Hospital were extremely surprised because according to them, Ms. Tan Cu’s natural pregnancy at this age was like a “miracle”.

However, out of concern for this woman’s health, the doctors advised her to consider aborting the child because at her age, pregnancy poses too many risks.

However, Mr. Hoang still insisted: “Children are given by God and must be born”. Right from that time, he named his son Thien Tu, which means “gift from heaven”.

Talking about the case of Mr. Hoang and his wife, the head of the Department of Maternal and Child Health Protection of Shandong Hospital once assessed: “This natural birth is a miracle. In many years of working in the profession, this is the first time. my head is witnessed”.

Since then, Ms. Xin Ju became the oldest woman to give birth naturally in China, surpassing the previous record of a woman from Changchun, Jilin province. This person gave birth to a baby boy in 2016, at the age of 64.

Crying, laughing at the sight of an old father taking care of his children

When his wife is in confinement, Mr. Hoang Duy Binh hires a nanny to take care of the children from 8 am to 6 pm at a cost of 4,800 yuan/month (about 16 million VND). After two months, he let this person quit because he was not satisfied at all. He decided to do all the work himself as a nanny.

A day, Mr. Hoang only has 5 hours to sleep. The rest of the time, he spends diapers, bathing, feeding the children.

In order for the baby not to have a distorted head, he often rotates his head for him. When Thien Tu was 4 months old, he took his son to a parenting class for parents.

With a full-month baby, like many other parents, Hoang also invited a photographer to take home photo albums. “As a father, I have to give my all to my daughter,” this father shared when many people said that he took care of his daughter too carefully.

Besides the couple and their daughter Thien Tu, family Mr. Hoang also has a granddaughter, 17 years old this year. The girl was also taken care of by one of her grandparents, raised from a young age by her parents’ divorce.

From childhood to adulthood, his granddaughter almost clung to him. But now all day, the two hardly spoke to each other. In adolescence, this girl no longer paid attention to her grandfather’s attitude, only when she needed something did she take the initiative to speak up.

The year Thien Tu was born, the niece’s mood changed completely, even when eating, she did not sit at the same table with her grandparents. Before each meal, Mr. Hoang arranges a separate meal for her in front of her room, otherwise she will starve. That’s how the granddaughter reacts to… not wanting more aunties.

Not only his granddaughter, from the moment he learned that his mother was pregnant, his first two children (this year over 40 years old) also reacted fiercely. The daughter in anger once declared that she would leave her parents if she had more children.

The day Ms. Dien Tan Cuc gave birth, the two children did not go to the hospital. When things calmed down, they returned home, just stood at a distance and watched me, not helping my father with anything.

At that time, Mr. Hoang realized that he himself had to live a long and healthy life, because he could not give Thien Tu to anyone else to take care of, even if it was a sibling.

The 71-year-old father’s persistence with his young daughter also comes from some regrets in the past.

Mr. Hoang Duy Binh said that for decades, even though he is the father of two children, in reality, he has been absent from the family life and the growing up of his children. “The lawyer’s work is busy, most of the care for the children, their education is shouldered by my wife alone,” this man shared.

Not suitable for children, the life of the two children also encountered many difficulties, causing many times Mr. Hoang admitted it was his fault. So since knowing that his wife was pregnant with Thien Tu, the fatherhood seemed to be activated again in him. At that moment, he thought, if he could do it again, he would be a good father.

Since giving birth, Ms. Dien Tan Cuc’s health has gone downhill. Her knees ached, and every time she worked hard, her back hurt. After giving birth, this woman had to undergo three eye surgeries because of retinal detachment, most of her teeth fell out and had to wear dentures.

Old age, weak health, this woman cannot take care of Thien Tu every day. “Having played with her children for half an hour, she was already gasping for breath,” said Mr. Hoang.

Not only that, her memory is getting worse and worse. The mother does not remember clearly what size shoes her daughter wears, which side of her diaper is first and which side is behind.

Mr. Hoang shared, Mrs. Tan Cuc was too strict and had no patience with young children. Since his wife has high blood pressure, he doesn’t want her to be angry all the time. Therefore, no matter what he does or goes, the father takes his little daughter with him.

Although he used to have his own law firm, but because he was busy taking care of his child, in 2019, he handed it over to his partner. However, in order to earn extra income to support his children and grandchildren, he recently took up a number of jobs. One day, he worked hard until 1-2 am.

At the age of 71, Mr. Hoang Duy Binh always believes in his family’s long-lived gene. His father lived to be 96 years old, his mother lived to 87 years old, and his sister is now almost 90 years old. “Try to live a long life”, Mr. Hoang always reminds himself, because he knows that Thien Tu still has a long way to go to grow up.
