Forging 10 auto papers, fraudulently appropriating nearly 5 billion VND
On March 29, the People’s Court of Dak Lak province opened a first-instance trial for defendant Nguyen Quang Tan (39 years old, residing in Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province) on charges of “fraud to appropriate property” and “Forgery” , using seals, fake documents of agencies or organizations”.

According to the jury, defendant Tan is the person named in the registration certificates of 8 cars. Due to the need for business capital, defendant Tan mortgaged all 8 cars to the bank to borrow money.
Until about January 2020, continuing to do business at a loss, while the original documents of 8 cars were mortgaged, defendant Tan had an intention to forge the registration certificates of the 8 cars above.
Through the social network Facebook, Tan asked people to forge a total of 10 vehicle documents, including 2 cars forging 4 certificates.
After that, Tan brought 2 papers to pledge for Mr. To Duc Loi (31 years old, residing in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province) for 1.15 billion VND. The remaining 8 fake papers, Tan mortgaged to a bank branch for an amount of VND 3.78 billion.
After learning that Tan used fake papers to appropriate property, Mr. Loi and the above-mentioned bank branch made a denunciation to the Investigative Police – Dak Lak Provincial Police.
Based on the circumstances and developments of the case, the trial panel sentenced defendant Tan to 18 years in prison for “fraudulently appropriating property” and 4 years in prison for “forging, using seals and documents” fake of agencies and organizations”. In total, defendant Tan must serve 22 years in prison.
