‘I’m so sad as if eating away the reputation of Thanh Loc’s brother’

– What chance did you have in the movie “This is my old man”?

I have known director Hoang Hai since he was a child. After that, I graded him Star succession with my father Hoang Son and his acting talent. When he invited me to act in a movie, I told Hoang Son that he was very happy to play a role in the father and son’s film.

When I received the invitation, I didn’t know that this movie had Thanh Loc playing. On the day of taking the poster, Loc and I looked at each other in shock: “Where are you going?”. I also tease Loc: “With you, I go home, without you, I don’t have you!”.

It’s a joke, but I’m really happy. During the epidemic season, my brother and I did not have the opportunity to meet each other. That day, I thought that the child in America met the child in Vietnam after many years apart. Loc played my boss, but we only acted together in the scene where the boss sat and talked with the employees.

I received the film with a heart of support for the father and son Hoang Son – Hoang Hai, so he played no matter how much he played. I didn’t ask for it, but the amount I received was quite reasonable.

– This is the first time the two brothers Bach Long – Thanh Loc acted in a movie together. Over the years, public opinion has always commented unfavorably about the relationship between the two, how does it affect the relationship between you and your brother?

A few months ago, we returned to the Idecaf stage. I acted in a play Brother with Loc.

Honestly, we’re old, we’ve been in showbiz for a long time, so we understand more or less. Once upon a time, there was an article that fabricated my complaint about my suffering, having to ride a motorbike taxi while Thanh Loc had just bought a motorbike for his brother. I told Loc did not say so. They made up stories that made me look like a slanderer.

Loc has to take care of his family, I don’t want to disturb or create more burden for him. Fortunately, Loc understood: “Don’t worry, I know showbiz very well!”.

Many newspapers still call me “brother Thanh Loc”. I’m so sad, like I eat my brother’s reputation. My sister abroad is also upset about this. The truth is that I was famous before Loc. In my heyday in the early 1980s, Loc was still in theater school. In the past, my brother and I were very similar. When I went to the street, someone mistook Thanh Loc, while Loc went to perform in the province, the audience mistook him for Bach Long. Now I “help” like Loc a lot. (laugh)

The most fortunate thing is that we brothers understand each other, our feelings are not dented. I’m just afraid of making up my statement about Loc.

There will be no more perfect love for me

– How is your life after the pandemic?

Difficulty is natural. All my life, Bach Long, I lived only by singing and acting. If I can’t act, I’m hungry. Thanks to the pandemic, I know that the audience loves me. They are not rich but still share rice, fish sauce, salt, … send as much food, I can’t eat it all, I have to share it with my neighbors. I joked with the hostess, the audience raised Bach Long like… raising pigs.

– There is information that you are happily married, how true is it?

I’m still single happily! I know that there will not be a perfect love for me. What love does not involve material things?

I used to be famous, but that time is over. The stage today is much narrower than in the past. As a man, I only get married when I can take responsibility for my wife and children. My income now to pay for house, electricity, water, living,… has been precarious. When I can go to the show, I’m happy, when I don’t have anything to do, I’m worried.

If I have a girlfriend, how will I respond if she asks to go on a trip or eat sushi? A few times like that, emotions were tired. At the age of 63, I no longer earnestly love couples, dream of boys and girls like before. People say: You live alone, if you get sick, who will take care of you? In fact, when I went to charity work, I encountered many scenes where people and children were reconciled, but no one cared. Such is the tragedy of this life.

I dedicate everything to art, helping students build careers. My job is to live well for myself, my family and society until the day I die.

– Many artists who passed away in poverty and illness, what thoughts do you have in mind?

The circumstances of many colleagues made me even more reluctant to get married. I often ask the above grace that if the number comes, please let me close my eyes, don’t let me disturb relatives and colleagues.

In the past, I broke my knee cartilage and was bedridden in the hospital. I have students take care of even urination, but the pain is unbearable. I am willing to suffer alone, not bothering anyone.

I’ve got my life sorted out. Everyone has their own part number. I’m famous but poor, that’s the number, I don’t give a damn.

Recently, a student asked the teacher of the word Bach to enter his stage name, Bach Luan. Students ask me for anything. I do not expect the student’s life to be as “silver” as the teacher.
