Italian Design Day 2022: Towards Sustainability

Italian Design Day is an annual event held to spread the quintessence, as well as humanistic and sustainable values ​​in design art. Every year, the program is elaborately organized with the participation of leading experts and designers.

With the theme “Regeneration, design and innovative technology towards a sustainable future”, this year’s event takes place with a series of activities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from 25/02. March 2022.

At the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE) the speakers discussed the possibility of applying Italian design in Vietnam. Accordingly, Architect Marco Lambri – Italian Design Ambassador in Vietnam in 2022, Design Director of Piaggio Group gave an important speech on industrial design and transformation. The conference also had the presence of other famous speakers such as Assoc. Dr. Pham Duy Hoa, Rector of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, Mr. Antonio Alessandro, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam and Mr. Christian Manhart, Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam.

At the bridgehead in Ho Chi Minh City, the program was held with keynote speeches presented by Mr. Antonio Alessandro and architect Marco Lambri through visual communication technology from Hanoi.

Architect Marco Lambri – Design Director of Piaggio Group, Ambassador of Italian Design Day 2022 in Vietnam said: “In all phases of great change, typically in the period in which we live. Design plays a key role. Creating ideas, projects, relationships is a good opportunity to improve our lives as well as future generations.”

Towards sustainable development, strengthen bilateral cooperation

Since its debut in 2017, Italian Design Day has become an important event in more than 100 cities worldwide. This is also an opportunity to support the internationalization strategy of strategic industrial sectors for Italian exports. Considered a leader in architecture and design, Italy has pioneered the creation of a unique combination of art, design, math and technology to promote sustainability.

The theme of this year’s Italian Design Day also highlights the main objective of the annual celebration. Accordingly, the event wishes to promote a development and innovation plan that can improve the quality of life and protect the planet.

In addition to the goal of introducing the most beautiful architectural wonders of Italy and pioneering design ideas to the Vietnamese community, Italian Design Day is also a great platform to open up opportunities to increase trade. bilateral, sustainable cooperation in the field of design and production.

Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, bilateral trade between Italy and Vietnam continues to increase, reaching 5.6 billion euros in 2021, up 21% over the previous year. Accordingly, the top 10 exports of Italy in recent years include technology, textile materials, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Although not clearly shown in business reports and export data, design and architecture are Italy’s largest export items to Vietnam in particular and the world in general.

As can be seen, Italian Design Day is a special occasion to bring together relevant individuals and businesses in the industry, opening up profound dialogues about the differences between Vietnam and Italy, as well as how so that these differences can really give both of them a common ground to work together.
