More than 45,000 students will not be able to enter class 10 in Hanoi public schools

Student Chu Minh Hieu, 9th grade at Trung Vuong Secondary School, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi shared: “I will take the exam for 10 majors in Literature by Chu Van An. Last year’s ratio was 1 to 7 so I was under a lot of pressure.” .

Student Bui Ngoc Minh Anh, grade 9 of Trung Vuong Secondary School, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi said: “The pressure of a current 9th grade student, especially the specialized exam, is quite great. But I think if I make efforts, , no matter how much pressure will be successful”.

Student Nguyen Phuc Vinh, grade 9 of Trung Vuong Secondary School, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi said: “Currently, I’m trying to study to achieve my dream.”

Every high school student has a youthful desire. After going to school directly, the teacher discussed with each child to assess their learning ability clearly.

Teacher Le Thi Giang, Trung Vuong Secondary School, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi said: “Two thirds of the children can take the exam to public schools, from high to low scores depending on their ability. 1/3 is go to private schools or maybe vocational schools”.

The schedule for the public entrance exam for class 10 in the capital is expected in the period from June 10 to 20. In addition to the choice of public schools, Hanoi has more than 110 private and public high schools with self-directed admission criteria and academic records, helping students to have a variety of school choices.

Nearly 130,000 soldiers of Hanoi will enter the season 10th grade exam this year. However, there will only be 77,000 places for public high schools. The rest, more than 45,000 children, will go to private schools or vocational schools.

According to MSc. Vu Thu Ha, Educational psychologist: “Parents need to talk and share with their children, not create too much pressure. Or parents do it silently without talking, even if the child is shocked, they will not. So. I think all school choices are important, so it needs to be discussed with the child.”

The fact that many parents place higher expectations on their children than their ability, invisibly creates great exam pressure for them. While, the unequal face-to-face study time between schools makes many children worry about the difference in knowledge with their peers, in the same competition this year.
