New developments in the case that a teacher at a specialized school in Tra Vinh was accused of abusing many male students

On March 29, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phong, Principal of Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted (Tra Vinh City, Tra Vinh) said that the Van teacher accused of abusing many male students had asked to suspend classes.

“This teacher presented because his biological father was elderly, not to mention that when the authorities invited him to work, it affected his teaching, so he applied for a temporary suspension of classes. The school has accepted the teacher’s application to stop teaching and move to an office job,” said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phong.

The teacher who taught Literature was accused of teaching grade 12.

On the same day, the police chief of Tra Vinh province said that the police agency had received four denunciations from former students of Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted accusing the aforementioned teacher. The police are verifying and clarifying these allegations. It is expected that here, the police will invite the accused teacher to work.

The Department of Education and Training of Tra Vinh province said that the Department had received a quick report on the above incident from Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted. The Department has assigned the Department Inspector to verify and clarify the case.

On February 25, students and teachers reported to the school that information appeared on social media accusing a Literature teacher of abusing male students.

After receiving the information, the school held a branch meeting to find out the incident.

At that time, the teacher was accused of going on a business trip, so the school sent someone to contact them online. However, in the first few days, they could not be contacted because the teacher was busy at work.

On March 10, after the English teacher returned, Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted had an expanded collective meeting. The school side asked teachers related to information on social networks. The school also made 3 reports to the Department of Education and Training.

The first report that Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted sent to the Department of Education and Training on February 26 (after the denunciation); 2nd report on 8/3 and 3rd report on 10/3.

“Currently, the Department of Education and Training has entered into the verification and clarification of this case. Therefore, at this time, the school side cannot answer whether this Van teacher violated or not and to what extent”, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phong added.

It is known that the teacher who taught Van was accused of working at Nguyen Thien Thanh High School for the Gifted for about 20 years.
