VAR “saved” the Vietnamese team a goal against Japan

In the 71st minute of the match, Japan attacked the goal of the Vietnamese team. The ball hit striker Minamino’s hand and hit Tanaka’s leg. The Japanese player was as quick as lightning and shot the ball to knock down goalkeeper Nguyen Manh.

However, after reviewing the situation from VAR, the match referee did not recognize Tanaka’s goal to make it 2-1.

With this decision, the Vietnamese team temporarily held a 1-1 draw. If the score continues to balance, the Vietnamese team will have a valuable point to close the journey in the third qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.
