Construction of railway from Thu Thiem to Long Thanh airport

A light railway connecting Thu Thiem (HCMC) with Long Thanh airport (Dong Nai) with a length of 38 km will be built with a total estimated investment of 40,500 billion VND.

On March 30, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh directed the Ministry of Transport to unify with localities (Dong Nai, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City) to build Thu Thiem light rail – Long Thanh airport and Long Thanh airport. Bien Hoa – Vung Tau, ensuring compliance with planning and authority.

The Bien Hoa – Vung Tau railway line is 84 km long, with the starting point at Trang Bom station and the ending point at Cai Mep – Thi Vai port, with a total investment of more than VND 50,000 billion.

The two projects mentioned above are on the list of national projects calling for foreign investment in the 2021-2025 period, approved by the Ministry of Transport. offer. In December 2021, Dong Nai province proposed to the Government to assign this province to be the competent state agency to invest in two railway lines in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).

These projects have also been included in the railway network construction planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, by 2030, in the South there will be 4 railway lines including Bien Hoa – Vung Tau; Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho route from An Binh station to Cai Rang station is 174 km long; the Ho Chi Minh City – Loc Ninh route from Di An station to the Vietnam – Cambodia border (Hoa Lu border gate) is 128 km long; Thu Thiem – Long Thanh route.
