EVN is concerned about the risk of power shortage from April 2022

According to EVN, the amount of coal supplied may be very short compared to the signed contract. In the first quarter of 2022, the total amount of coal supplied was just over 70% of the demand. By the end of March, many coal-fired power plants in the system had to stop and deflate.
Specifically, the Nghi Son 1, Vung Ang 1, Vinh Tan 2, Duyen Hai 1 thermal power plants currently only have enough coal to operate one unit at 60-70% of capacity; Hai Phong thermal power plant only has enough coal to operate for 1 of 4 units.
As a result, the entire national power system is short of more than 3,000 MW of coal-fired power due to the lack of coal for power production. In order to overcome the difficulties caused by the shortage of coal for electricity production, recently, the power and grid operating units of EVN have taken many synchronous measures to maintain the safe and stable operation of the system. national electricity.
Although coal suppliers (Vietnam Coal-Mineral Industry Group and Dong Bac Corporation) have made many efforts in overcoming difficulties to exploit coal from domestic mines and import coal. to mix, but information from the Vietnam Coal-Mineral Industry Group and the Northeast Corporation said that the coal supply situation will continue to face many difficulties in the coming time.
In the coming time, especially during the peak heat of the dry season in 2022, coal-fired power generation plays a very important role in ensuring electricity supply, especially in April. 5, 6, 7 in the Northern region.
In order to actively respond to the risk of affecting electricity supply from electricity users, EVN calls on people and electricity users to take measures save electricity such as: turning off unnecessary electrical equipment, avoiding the use of many electrical devices during peak hours, rational use of air conditioners, etc., contributing to alleviating difficulties in power supply.
