Exports via e-commerce “speed up” when the economy recovers

Vietnam’s export turnover in the first quarter of 2022 reached more than $88 billion, up nearly 13% over the same period last year. The data just released by the General Statistics Office continues to show a positive recovery of export activities.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has also just put into operation the digital trade promotion ecosystem, roughly understood as a technology platform used for trade promotion that allows exporting enterprises to exploit and share. This is considered a strategic solution for the State to support businesses in digital transformation and better promote exports through e-commerce.

Experts say that the biggest challenge for businesses today is the high cost of transportation and logistics. In particular, when exporting via e-commerce, businesses often use fast shipping methods such as airmail, making profits easily eroded if businesses do not calculate carefully.
