More than 5.3 million farmers have created accounts on Postmart, Shell

More than 5.3 million agricultural households (Agricultural production) have been created accounts on two e-commerce platforms Postmart and Shell. The target for the whole year is 10 million households.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications (TT&TT), as of March 21, 2022, there were more than 5.8 million agricultural production households receiving digital skills training, of which nearly 2.3 million households in the North, more than 1.8 million households in the Central region and more than 1.6 million households in the South.

More than 5.3 million agricultural production households have been created accounts on 2 e-commerce floors Postmart (Postmart.vn – of Vietnam Post Corporation) and Shell (Voso.vn – of Viettel Post Corporation), including more than 2.1 million households in the North, more than 1.7 million households in the Central region, and more than 1.5 million households in the South.

The total number of agricultural products posted on the two e-commerce platforms mentioned above amounted to more than 78 thousand products, mainly agricultural products in the North (more than 46.5 thousand products), followed by agricultural products in the South (more than 19 thousand products). 3 thousand products), the rest are agricultural products in the Central region (more than 12 thousand products).

The total number of transactions on the 2 exchanges Postmart.vn and Voso.vn reached more than 106.7 thousand transactions, of which, more than 73.3 thousand transactions in the North, more than 17.4 thousand transactions in the South, and nearly 16,000 transactions in the Central region. Although the Central region has a “modest” number of agricultural products listed on the floor, the number of transactions is higher than the number of agricultural products listed on the floor.

In the first quarter of 2022, the transaction value of agricultural products through the two e-commerce floors Postmart and Shell reached 21.14 billion VND. Notably, most of the total transaction value fell in January (16.4 billion dong), in February there was a sharp decline (only 1.99 billion dong), and in March there was a slight increase (2, 1, 2 billion VND). 75 billion dong).

From July 2021, the Ministry of Information and Communications has issued Decision No. 1034 on putting agricultural production households on the e-commerce floor, promoting the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas. Up to now, 60/63 localities have issued Implementation Plans according to Decision No. 1034 of the Ministry of Information and Communications (3 localities that have not yet been issued include: Hung Yen, Lao Cai, Phu Tho).

In order to “accelerate”, increase the efficiency of bringing agricultural production households to the e-commerce floor, increase the number of transactions and transaction value on the e-commerce floors, at the end of February 2022, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung signed and promulgated the Decision Decision No. 350 approving the Plan to support agricultural production households on the e-commerce platform, promoting the development of the agricultural and rural digital economy in 2022.

In which, the goal is that by 2022, there will be 10 million accounts of agricultural production households created on e-commerce floors Postmart, Shell. Not only setting up, these 10 million accounts must have activities: Posting products, searching for products, exchanging information, buying/selling transactions…

Along with that, there are a number of other notable goals such as: 100% of OCOP products that meet the 3-star criteria of the provinces and centrally-run cities are listed on Postmart, Seashell; 100% of agricultural production households on e-commerce floors are trained in digital skills and business skills on e-commerce floors; At least 50% of agricultural production households with accounts on e-commerce floors are fully equipped with knowledge and business skills on e-commerce platforms, initially contributing to changing shopping and trading habits of people in rural areas. village…

According to Mr. Duong Ton Bao, Deputy Director of the Postal Department, Deputy Head of Working Group 1034, Ministry of Information and Communications, the implementation of Decision No. 1034 is one of the contents of the national digital transformation of the information and communication industry. The Ministry of Information and Communications has determined that people are the focus of digital transformation, and farmers are the root of digital transformation in agriculture, because this is the main production object to ensure national food security.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is ready to accompany localities in the process of bringing agricultural production households to the e-commerce platform, ready to send experts to jointly train staff of farmers’ associations, cooperative unions, and employees of postal enterprises to have more force to train directly for farmers.
