Overcoming difficulties successfully, Portugal dreams of winning the World Cup

On the morning of March 30, phone Portugal won the play-off final of the 2022 World Cup European region against North Macedonia. The star duo of MU, Bruno Fernandes and Ronaldo are the heroes who have come together to help Portugal officially have tickets to Qatar at the end of this year.

After the match, coach Fernando Santos of Portugal was full of praise for the performance of his students. The 68-year-old strategist affirmed that his Portugal team is fully capable of realizing his ambition to claim the throne at the next World Cup.

“I would like to congratulate the players for their great performance. The team showed solidarity and concentration throughout the match against a difficult opponent like North Macedonia. Today Portugal did a good job defending and also taking advantage of opportunities to score two goals. With what we have shown, we deserve to go on.

Portugal is going to play the Nations League soon, and now will be the time for us to prepare the best for the World Cup. I have won two tournaments with Portugal and have always dreamed of winning one more. And that will certainly be the World Cup.

Portugal is currently a strong team with many good players. Therefore, the dream of winning the world championship is not too far-fetched for us,” said coach Santos.

Fernando Santos was appointed as Portugal coach in September 2014, replacing the sacked Paulo Bento. He was with the national team to win Euro 2016 and the UEFA Nations League. If he leads the European Selecao to the 2022 World Cup, he will become one of the most successful coaches in the history of Portuguese football.

At the upcoming 2022 World Cup, Portugal is ranked in the first seed group based on the position of FIFA rankings in March. This group includes the home team Qatar, Belgium, Brazil, France, Argentina, England, West Spain and Portugal.

Therefore, Ronaldo and his teammates can only meet one of the teams in group 2 according to FIFA’s ranking including Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia; avoid having to face strong opponents such as Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, France, and Spain right from the group stage.
