Thanks to that, the economic life of Mr. Nhuan’s family has become better and has bought 1 more horse to breed to increase the herd.

According to Nhuan, the process of raising white horses can completely take advantage of available natural foods such as grass, corn leaves combined with corn kernels or milled rice. Each household only needs to invest from 50 to 60 million VND to buy a foal about 5 months old. If well cared for, after 3 years the mare starts to reproduce, the average mare will give birth to 1 foal/year.

5 month old ponies can be sold for sale; if raised to adulthood, the value is from 50 to 55 million VND/head, the male horse will have a higher economic value, averaging about 55 – 60 million VND/head. Compared to raising meat horses or raising buffaloes and cows, raising white horses is quite easy but is assured of the output of the product.

“Horse breeding is relatively leisurely, does not require too much technology, both takes advantage of the grazing area and natural food sources, and brings much higher economic efficiency,” said Nhuan.

According to white horse breeding families, horses raised for more than 5 months will be sold for about 50 to 65 million VND/head, nearly double that of ordinary horses. Especially, for adult white horses, the price is from 80 to 120 million VND/head.

In order to develop and increase the herd, livestock households have focused on taking care, processing and supplementing food such as: rice, corn, straw, hay, corn stalks.
