Revealing evidence that Xiaomi is about to cooperate with Leica
Currently, Leica is a partner with the Sharp brand. Sharp first introduced the Aquos R6 as the brand’s first product to work with Leica to improve the quality of photos. Prior to that, Leica was an exclusive partner of Huawei for many years.
Recently, XDA-Developers programmers have found evidence in the code of the MIUI interface that reveals Xiaomi’s next flagship will be a collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica.
As the image above, we can see the lines of code inside the Gallery Editor application of the Chinese version of MIUI that will have new shooting modes and filters. The names of these filters will have the prefix “Leica”, indicating that Xiaomi will work with Leica to create these color filters.
It is currently unclear which smartphone Xiaomi will introduce with a camera in cooperation with Leica, but it will certainly be a flagship device, possibly the Xiaomi 12 Ultra or some MIX series.
As a partner, Leica will take care of fine-tuning the lens, software and image processing algorithms for the best quality and to suit the style of each camera company. Currently, the “trend” of collaborating with famous camera manufacturers is quite popular, for example vivo in cooperation with Carl Zeiss or OnePlus/OPPO in cooperation with Hasselblad.
