The People’s Court of Bac Giang province has just tried and sentenced Vu Thi Ngoc (born 1996; residing in Hai Khe village, Que Nham commune, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province) to 20 years in prison for the crime of “fraudulent appropriation of property”.

According to the police, Ngoc is the youngest child in a family of 5 sisters, this girl has a lovely appearance, a good-looking face, and is well-spoken. Without a stable job, every day surfing social networks Zalo, Facebook, Ngoc obtains information from many individuals and self-driving car rental companies. In just over a month (from August 12, 2020 to September 21, 2020), Ngoc regularly used the phone number 0987,325.xxx to directly contact the car hirer and then appropriate.

Taking the name of accountant of Company X based in My Thai commune (Lang Giang district), Ngoc rented 3 cars of 2 businesses in Bac Ninh province and Hanoi city. All three contracts have a 12-month rental period to transport foreign experts and workers to Company X.

Ngoc Khai, after renting the car, gave everything to a person named Hang (accountant) and a person named Thang (driver) of Company X and did not have any contracts or papers. However, Ngoc confirmed that she had not met the director of Company X, had never been to the headquarters and did not work for Company X. After verifying information about Hang and Thang, the police could not identify the who is this. In My Thai commune, there is no X Company operating as Ngoc’s testimony.

In her personal name, Ngoc rented 8 other cars (including 6 cars with license plates under Hanoi control, leased by a number of businesses based in Hanoi) for the same reason for business purposes. For each car, Ngoc makes a rental contract for 2 days or more, with a car for 10 days. Following Ngoc’s testimony, many people after the police agency invited him to work said they did not know who Ngoc was, did not accept a car, did not rent a car or borrow it from Ngoc.

According to the valuation of the authorities, the total value of 11 cars mentioned above is nearly 5.6 billion VND. During the investigation and trial, Ngoc did not sincerely declare, did not confess, and did not repent.

Previously, in early 2021, Ngoc was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison by the People’s Court of Lang Giang district for “abusing trust to appropriate property” and 2 years in prison for “illegal purchase and sale of invoices”.

Summarizing the punishment of all previous crimes, defendant Ngoc was sentenced to 26 years and 6 months in prison.
