Train attack in Nigeria kills at least 7 people

This was the second time since October last year that passenger trains in Nigeria were attacked, highlighting growing insecurity in Africa’s most populous country. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Armed groups are active in the northwest region of Nigeria, so far have killed dozens of people, kidnapped hundreds of students and people for ransom. People were afraid of being kidnapped when traveling on the road, switching to trains, now trains are also attacked.

It is difficult for the Nigerian government to ensure stability, as it also faces an anti-government force in the northeast, conflicts in the central states and armed groups in the southeast.
