On the afternoon of March 30, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam held an emergency meeting with the leaders of Bamboo Airways after the arrest of FLC President and Bamboo Airways President Trinh Van Quyet.

Ho Minh Tan, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said that in the immediate future, the Civil Aviation Administration will more closely monitor Bamboo Airways’ activities in the next 3-6 months.

In particular, special attention should be paid to aircraft maintenance and operation, training and maintenance, and maintenance of ratings for pilots, flight attendants, and human resources.

Vu Hong Quang, Deputy Head of the Transport Department (CAAV), said that in terms of transportation, Bamboo Airways’ air transport business license was last amended on February 3, 2021.

According to the carriage charter, Bamboo Airways Chairman Trinh Van Quyet does not have the right to decide on the company’s development strategy as well as the business development plan and fleet development. The legal representative – Mr. Dang Tat Thang, General Director will be in charge of the whole.

Bamboo Airways is currently operating 29 aircraft, of which there is an A319 aircraft that will end its lease at the end of this year. The remaining aircraft all end their contracts in 2024, 2025 and beyond.

To date, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has not received any documents from the aircraft leasing organization or the authorized organization requesting to suspend the operation of Bamboo Airways’ aircraft.

Bamboo Airways Deputy General Director Nguyen Ngoc Trong said that from 6pm on March 29, Bamboo Airways’ leaders assessed the risks and impacts of the airline’s operations after there was a sudden change in the top leadership position.

Mr. Trinh Van Quyet has authorized all shareholder rights corresponding to the number of Bamboo Airways shares that Mr. Quyet owns to Ms. Vu Dang Hai Yen.

The entire management team, especially the apparatus approved by the Aircraft Operator Certificate (AOC), the Maintenance Organization (AMO) and the Training Center (ATO) remains the same. There is currently no change in high-quality personnel: pilots, flight attendants, engineers…
