Meritorious Artist Minh Tri passed away

In the notice sent from the family of Broadcaster, Meritorious Artist Minh Tri, Mr passed away due to old age and weakness.

“Our family is deeply saddened to announce: My biological father: Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, born in 1945, former Broadcaster, Distinguished Artist – Vietnam Television.

Due to his old age and weakness, he passed away at 4:05 am on March 31, 2022 (February 29 in the year of the Tiger), at the age of 77.

Nguyen Phuong Anh, the daughter of Meritorious Artist Minh Tri, his visitation ceremony will take place at 12:30 pm on April 4, 2022. The memorial service and funeral took place at 13:30 on the same day at the funeral home of the 108 Central Military Hospital – 5 Tran Thanh Tong – Hanoi.

He will be cremated at the Universal Incarnation Station – Van Dien Cemetery – Hanoi.

Meritorious Artist Minh Tri is considered one of the legendary voices of VTV. In an interview many years ago, Meritorious Artist Minh Tri shared about his chance to become an announcer.

He said he had auditioned to be a film actor, but even though he was accepted, the school did not let him go. He auditioned to be a radio announcer of Vietnam Television in 1971.

He said that at that time, the audition was very difficult, from gait to sitting posture were checked very carefully and that was what made his generation of broadcasters thorough and serious.

In 1993, broadcasters Minh Tri and Kim Tien are two broadcasters awarded the title of the first Meritorious Artist in the field of Radio and Television. However, he said that in his thoughts he did not let the title of Meritorious Artist bother him.

Meritorious Artist Minh Tri said that as long as many people invite him to work, read the narration, host the program, he will feel happy.

Meritorious Artist Minh Tri retired from 2005.
