Stalking ex-girlfriend with Apple Watch, a young American was sentenced to prison

WSMV4 reported that police received a warning from staff at the local family safety center about this young man’s plot to stalk. According to reports, the girl went to the center to ask for protection. She said that this young man had threatened her life many times before. The young man had previously faced two assault charges last year.

According to WSMV4, when they were still together, the two used an app called Life360 to share each other’s locations. However, the girl said that she sometimes shuts down the app. This is believed to be the reason why the young man was outraged and sent threatening messages, asking her to turn on location sharing.

The police conducted an investigation and discovered the young man was acting suspiciously in the girl’s car. According to the police, this person at some point Apple Watch on wheels and use the smartwatch as a tracking tool. When confronted by the police, he admitted the Apple Watch was his. The young man has been accused of attaching an electronic tracking device to someone else’s car.

According to Gizmodo, this is the first time that the Apple Watch has been used to track other people. Before that, the AirTag accessory was repeatedly used by bad guys as an illegal tracking tool. With a cheaper price and compact size, AirTag is often preferred by bad guys to use the expensive Apple Watch.

To limit sneaking through AirTag, Apple has added a warning feature through the recently released iOS 15.4 update.
