This year’s high school graduation exam will basically remain stable as in previous years, without disturbing the teaching process of teachers and students. The exam is expected to take place in early July 2022. Five exams include: Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Natural Sciences (including Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and Social Sciences (including History, Geography, Citizenship Education).

Candidates must take 4 exams to consider graduating from high school, including Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Languages, Natural Sciences or Social Sciences. Particularly, candidates studying in the continuing education system are not required to take a foreign language exam.

Out of the five exams, only Literature is tested in the form of essays, the rest of the tests are in the form of objective multiple-choice.

The exam marking, regulated by the Ministry, will be chaired by the local examination board. In which, multiple-choice tests will be marked by machine. The local Department of Education and Training is responsible for preparing financial and physical facilities; the computer system, photo scanner and ancillary equipment meet the requirements according to the annual guidance of the ministry, coordinate with the police force to protect security and safety for the examination.

The Ministry of Education and Training directs the examination boards to strictly implement technical solutions to keep the exam confidential and candidate information during the marking process. Along with regulations on personnel and specific work of the marking supervision team, the ministry requires the installation of 24/24h cameras to monitor the marking area.

For the marking stage, the circular stipulates a number of new points that are stricter with the grading of essay exams. According to the regulations, the examination boards of provinces and cities will mark with instructions, answers, and a scale developed by the Ministry of Education and Training on a 10-point scale, the odd points of the total test are rounded to 2 decimal places.

The regulation stipulates that all essay grading committees must organize a common grading of 10 exams to be consistent, to avoid scoring too loose or too tight, misunderstanding the marking instructions, and not being sure of the marking process.

Particularly, the examination boards with 30,000 candidates or more can conduct the general grading according to each examination group or group of examination teams. The implementation of the two-round independent grading process must be arranged in two independent grading rooms.

Of the two judges, only the second round judge can score the score on the sideline of the test, the total score. Judge 1 only records the results on the scorecard to ensure objectivity, no impact, and exchanges between the 2 judges during the marking process.
