The power of Russia’s Mi-28 helicopters in action in Ukraine

Below are rare images of Russian Mi-28 attack helicopters participating in the war in Ukraine.

Video released by the Russian military on March 29 shows that a number of Ukrainian armored vehicles were shot down by a SACLOS semi-automatic laser-guided anti-tank missile launched from a Mi-28 helicopter.

Specifically, a pair of Russian Mi-28N and Mi-28UB attack helicopters carried out attacks on Ukrainian armored personnel carriers with anti-tank missiles at a distance of up to 5km.

The Mi-28 “Destroyer” (the nickname given to it by the NATO military bloc), is a combat helicopter designed by Russia for attack purposes and does not have the same transport function as its predecessor Mi- 24.

Mi-28 has a length of 17.01m; impeller length on rotor is 8.6m; height 3.82m. The empty weight is nearly 8.1 tons, the maximum take-off weight is 10.4 tons. The crew consists of 2 people.

Mi-28 is equipped with 2 Klimov TV3-117VMA propeller engines, with a capacity of 1,950 horsepower each. Thanks to this, the Mi-28 can fly at a maximum speed of 300 km / h, and has a range of up to 1,100 km.

Mi-28 is equipped with a 30mm Shipunov 2A42 cannon with 250 rounds, four weapon mounts on either side for Ataka-V air-to-ground anti-tank missiles; Igla-V air-to-air missile; 122mm S-13 rocket launcher or 2 UPK-23 machine guns depending on the assigned crew mission.
