Regarding vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years, on the afternoon of March 31, the Ministry of Health held a training seminar on vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years. Two vaccines approved for use in children aged 5 to 12 years are Pfizer and Moderna. These are the two vaccines that are already widely given in 2021 for additional and booster injections.
– With Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine
The distinguishing image is the yellow vaccine bottle cap. The vaccine is in the form of a concentrated suspension for injection, in a vial of 1.3 ml, equivalent to 10 doses. The vaccine was then diluted with 1.3 ml of 0.9% physiological saline solution. Each 0.2 ml injection contains 10 mcg of COVID-19 mRNA vaccine. The reconstituted vaccine should be used within 6 hours.
About injection schedule:
+ Vaccine is indicated for people 5-12 years old.
+ Dosage route: intramuscular injection, 0.2 ml injection dose.
+ Schedule: 2 injections 4 weeks apart.
The vaccination for children in this age group will be implemented in April 2022.
– Spikevax Vaccine (Moderna)
The Spikevax vaccine (Modern COVID-19 Vaccine) has been approved by the Ministry of Health for use in children from 6 to under 12 years of age for urgent needs in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The dose used for children is 1/2 of the base dose compared to the dose used for adults (it is hoped that today or tomorrow, the Ministry of Health will issue a document approving the dose of Moderna vaccine for injecting children) children 6-12 years old).
It is known that the Moderna vaccine comes in the form of a white to whitish injection suspension. The 0.25 ml pediatric dose contains 50 mcg of COVID-19 vaccine mRNA (packaged in lipid nanoparticles).
Vaccine in multidose vials: 10-dose vials, each 0.5 ml dose is equivalent to 20 doses, each 0.25 ml dose, i.e. one bottle of Moderna vaccine will inject 20 children. Children vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine received 2 injections, 28 days apart.
