The new guidelines also advise pregnant women and nursing mothers how to safely take medication when they have COVID-19. Accordingly, pregnant and lactating women do not arbitrarily use antiviral, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory drugs… when there are no indications or prescriptions.

With antipyretic drugs, patients only use when the body temperature is above 38.5°C or severe headache and only use antipyretic drugs containing Paracetamol alone (the dosage is as directed for adults in Section 5.2 of the “Guidelines” home management guidelines for people with COVID-19″).

When these symptoms appear, patients should note the following medication:

– Cough: Use folk methods such as lemon, honey, gargle with 0.9% sodium chloride solution. Medicines can be used as cough medicine containing active ingredients Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin… or herbal cough medicine. Patients Do not use drugs contraindicated for pregnant women, nursing mothers.

– Nasal congestion, runny nose: Nasal spray, nasal drops with 0.9% sodium chloride solution.

– Diarrhea: Supplement with Oresol, zinc (10-20 mg/day).

The Ministry of Health also noted that pregnant women and lactating mothers need to continue using the drug on an outpatient basis if they have underlying medical conditions or as directed by a doctor.
