Russia withdrew from Chernihiv, Ukrainian helicopters attacked Russian oil depots
Russian forces are withdrawing from the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine but not fully, governor Viacheslav Chaus said today in a video address.
“Air strikes and missile attacks are still possible in the area, no one can rule this out,” the governor of Chernihiv province told Reuters news agency.
Viacheslav Chaus added that Ukrainian forces are entering and holding areas formerly controlled by the Russian military. But according to him, it is too early for Ukrainian forces in the Chernihiv region to lower their vigilance because Russian troops are still on Ukrainian soil.
Earlier this week, Russia announced it would scale back its operations in the Chernihiv and Kiev regions.

A Russian official said that today, two Ukrainian military helicopters attacked a fuel depot in the Russian city of Belgorod. According to Reuters news agency, this is the first allegation of Ukraine conducting air strikes on Russian soil since Moscow attacks neighboring country.
Video of the attack posted online showed several rockets being launched from low altitude, followed by an explosion. Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said helicopters struck a facility in Belgorod, 35km from the Russian-Ukrainian border, after entering Russian territory at low altitude. The fire injured two workers.

However, the oil company Rosneft, which owns the fuel depot, said that no one was injured in the incident, although it did not give a cause. Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said the incident had no impact on fuel supplies or prices for consumers in the region.
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine did not immediately respond to comment on the incident.
