The team ranked lower than the Vietnamese team has the opportunity to attend the 2022 World Cup

No team outside the top 100 in the world has ever won the right to participate in the World Cup (up to the time of official qualifying). New Zealand could become the first such team. This team is ranked 101st on the FIFA rankings, 5 places behind the Vietnamese team.

According to the latest FIFA rankings, the Vietnamese team is ranked 96th in the world, 16th in Asia with 1,215.38 points.

New Zealand is the top team 2022 World Cup qualifiers Oceania region (OFA). However, this region does not have a direct place to attend the World Cup, New Zealand has to play a play-off with the representative of North-Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) Costa Rica.

New Zealand participated in the World Cup twice, most recently in 2010. At that time, the Oceania team ranked 77th in the world rankings. However, New Zealand fell out of the FIFA top 100 for many years in a row.

The 2022 World Cup has identified 29 participating teams up to the present time. The World Football Federation (FIFA) has also recently updated the rankings to serve the seed grouping of the draw that took place at 11pm today (April 1).

All 29 teams that have qualified for the World Cup so far are in the top 100 in the world. Ghana (60th) is the lowest ranked team. Italy is the only team in the top 10 absent.
