5 cars crashed continuously on Trung Luong highway

Tien GiangThe tractor-trailer rammed a truck on the Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong highway, causing a series of accidents, causing traffic jams for more than 4 km.

Last night, the truck drove on the highway Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong, heading from the West to Saigon. When coming to Tam Hiep commune (Chau Thanh, Tien Giang), this car was hit by a tractor from behind.

The truck rushed forward, ramming a 5-seater car that was stopped at the opening waiting to cross the road, causing this car to be thrown into the opposite lane. Cars continued to collide continuously with 7-seat cars and trucks, before crashing into the side of the road.

The accident did not cause casualties, but damaged five vehicles, in which the 5-seater flipped upside down, many parts were scattered on the road. The highway was congested for more than 4 km, the traffic police were present to regulate, until 4 hours later the road was clear again.

Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong expressway is nearly 62 km long, 4 lanes, operating since 2010, is the first expressway in the South connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Long An and Tien Giang provinces; maximum speed 100 km/h.

After the expressway stopped toll collection in early 2019, the number of vehicles traveling on this route increased by over 30%, 40,000-50,000 vehicles per day and night, causing the road surface to be overloaded and damaged. Over the past three years, more than 200 accidents have occurred on this highway.
