6 things you need to do immediately when your phone is in water – Information Technology

Not all smartphone models support water and dust resistance, so users need to memorize the following tips to know how to handle when the phone is in water.

1. Take your phone out of the water

When your phone falls into water, the first thing you need to do is get it out of the water (or other liquid) as quickly as possible. Most phones nowadays only support medium or low water and dust resistance (except for high-end models), so if the phone is left in water for too long, the possibility of damage will be very high.

2. Power off the phone

The next step is to turn off the phone. This will limit short-circuiting if water has entered the internal circuits.

3. Remove removable components

In this step, users need to remove the case, SIM card and even the PIN (if the phone supports it). This will help release any remaining trapped water.

4. Dry carefully

Once the above steps are completed, you should dry any remaining water stains on the phone and around the ports using a soft microfiber cloth.

5. Keep the phone upright

6. Do not do any of the below

– Air compressor: Using an air compressor to blow water out of the phone will cause the water to get deeper inside, it is best not to use an air compressor or blow air into the phone.

Hair dryers: Hair dryers cause damage similar to air compressors, but high temperatures can also accelerate corrosion.
