Hanoi consults parents about sending students to school directly

Many primary and secondary schools in the inner city of Hanoi are conducting surveys and collecting parents’ opinions on sending students back to school directly.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Tung, Principal of MV Lomonosov Middle and High School (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) said that the school had just received a notice that in order for the Department of Education and Training to have data to develop a preparation plan for students from Grades 1 to 6 returned to school directly, the District Department of Education and Training asked educational institutions to organize surveys and collect parents’ opinions on registering their children to go back to school. The Department of Education and Training in Nam Tu Liem district also requires schools to report data before April 4.

Mr. Tung said that, currently, the school has conducted an opinion survey for grade 6. “Through the survey, most of them agree to let their children go back to school, but there are still a lot of people who don’t want their children to go to school directly”, he said. Tung said.

According to Mr. Tung, in the past few weeks, the percentage of students from grades 7 to 12 of the school going directly to school has reached over 94%; The number of teachers infected with Covid-19 is also very low. Therefore, Mr. Tung also supports the gradual return of students from lower grades to school.
