“Singapore chooses principles, not inside Russia

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said those principles include: the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, large or small, must be respected based on international law, including the Charter of the United Nations. During the recent visit to the US by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the two sides issued a Joint Statement, which contained content criticizing Russia’s conduct of the war in Ukraine in violation of international law; emphasizing the urgent need to maintain world order and relations between states based on international law; opposes changing the border by force.

Earlier, the Singaporean government issued statements opposing Russia’s “launch of a special military operation” in Ukraine. Singapore is also the only ASEAN country to impose sanctions on Russia.
