Entrepreneur Pham Tran Nhat Minh (Minh Plastic) is often known as one of the famous supercar players in Vietnam. In addition, he has another equally expensive passion: playing luxury watches.
Recently, the young master of Long Thanh Plastic Group has just launched the MINHsHOW series broadcast on YouTube. This will be where he shares never-before-seen stories about items that hold special meaning to him.
In episode 1, businessman Minh Plastic introduced two very special Richard Mille watches. Both are part of the RM 72-01 Lifestyle In-House Chronograph series, differing only in color and quality: one in red gold, the other in ceramic white.
“I started collecting watches when I understood its value. At that time, I didn’t buy watches because I showed off, or wanted to be superior.”the giant shared. “I feel the story that the creator, the brand wants to convey through the watch is very deep, so I want to own that story. Only the story can go a long way with me.”

Behind the two Richard Mille of businessman Minh Plastic is also an interesting story. When he was a beginner in watchmaking, like many others, he also started with familiar brands such as Hublot, Patek Philippe,… The turning point occurred when he visited a high-end watch shop run by someone you manage in Singapore.
“Normally, there is a large cabinet to hold a variety of watches. But, with Richard Mille, each watch is kept in its own box, placed in the corner of the store.”he said.
When I asked about this to my manager friend, businessman Minh Plastic knew that these were all special watches.
“He asked: ‘Why don’t you recommend me this particular watch, but other watch brands?’ You answer: ‘I want you to level up slowly, to understand. where is the clock value'”.
“Newcomers to watches often look to close and famous brands such as Rolex, Hublot… But no, you need something special.”
Seeing that businessman Minh Plastics was so interested in learning about Richard Mille, his manager friend took him to see the watch models of this brand. However, this friend is not eager to sell, because he knows that the giant is not high enough to buy such “terrible” super products.
“You know you don’t understand the value of watches, while the money spent on Richard Mille watches is higher than the Rolex watches that he is wearing.”
At that time, businessman Minh Plastic liked to wear baguette diamond-encrusted watches. However, Richard Mille’s product is nothing, even heavy. Therefore, the manager friend advised him to just watch and wait for the right time to buy.
According to businessman Minh Plastics, the Richard Mille brand is different from other classic watches in that: no one can predict what each model will bring.
“No two are alike, so it’s hard to know what I’m into. Richard Mille creates interests to serve a wide range of audiences.“, he shared. “In the end, watches are just for telling the time.”
Entrepreneur Minh Plastics affirmed, no matter how expensive a watch is, the most important thing is to see the time. However, brands still equip special features to create a unique story for each product. With the RM 72-01, that is the chronograph.
The RM 72-01 Lifestyle Chronograph is a collaboration between Richard Mille with dancer Benjamin Millepied and musician Thomas Roussel. Inspired by elegant dances, this masterpiece is equipped with 2 chronograph dials at 2 o’clock and 5 o’clock with dark indications at 60 min and 24 o’clock.
Inside the dial is still the dauphine hands made from rose gold like the outer case. The back sapphire crystal helps users to observe the movement and meticulously finished details. At 38.40 mm wide and 11.68 mm thick, it becomes one of Richard Mille’s smallest watches.
The RM 72-01 Lifestyle Chronograph uses the Caliber CRMC1 movement with a flyback chronograph function. It is self-winding with a power reserve of 50 hours and a frequency of 28,800 bph even when the chronograph function is active.
It was also the first watch that Richard Mille used a flyback chronograph mechanism developed entirely in-house. Just press the button at 4 o’clock while the chronograph hand is running, the hour counters will be returned to the original position and continue to operate, avoiding time loss due to many manipulations.
Currently, the RM 72-01 Lifestyle Chronograph watch is on the market for as little as 188,000 USD (4.3 billion VND).
As the owner of a massive watch collection, businessman Minh Plastic considers wearing two watches on his hand at the same time as a “breakthrough” feature of his.
“I often do strange things, especially things that make me feel”the giant explained. “More importantly, you have too many watches. If you don’t wear them, you will never be able to wear them. So instead of wearing one every day, I wear two.”
For businessman Minh Plastics, watches are not only accessories, but also valuable objects that are especially important to him.
“For Minh, time is something that cannot be bought with money. We can only use money to buy time through a watch.”he explained. “It will record a historical mark, a certain moment. The watch is the thing that shows the most profound value in his life.”
