Young girl jumps out of a moving car because of being groped by a taxi driver
According to the Borneo Post news, the incident happened near Kionsom waterfall in the suburbs and Inanam sub-district of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah state (Malaysia) on Thursday, March 31.
At around 9 a.m. that day, a 19-year-old girl, a saleswoman, got into a dark blue Perodua Axia car to go to work in Menggatal. The driver, known only as Zahir, told the girl that he had to take a detour using a shortcut because the main road was congested and it would be a long time before he reached where the girl needed to be.
When they approached the Kionsom waterfall area, for some reason, he asked the female passenger to move to the front row, ie the position next to the driver’s seat. He then allegedly groped the victim’s thigh.
Kota Kinabalu police chief, George Abdul Rakman, told media that when the victim told him not to do it again, the suspect then pulled out a small knife and asked her to hand over money and personal property.
Fearing for her own safety, the girl couldn’t think of a wise way to get rid of the pervert. In an emergency, the girl jumped out of the moving car and called a friend to help. The victim injured his leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment after the life-threatening jump. She filed a police report at around 1:14 pm on the same day.
The incident was also shared on social media by a woman who is a manager at the victim’s workplace. In her post, she writes: “Around 9:01 a.m. on March 31, I received a text from a colleague saying that one of my employees was crying during a video call. So I was wondering what happened, it turned out she was. She was almost raped by a tech driver.”
“Her injuries were very severe as she immediately jumped out of the moving vehicle. So I hope that everyone will stay alert in any situation.” She added.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle’s license plate was registered to another vehicle.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect and anyone with information about the incident is advised to contact investigative officer Inspector Riduan Abd Majidat at 010-514 4059 or visit the nearest police station. .
