Luffy is the “best captain” when he always puts his teammates before his own safety

2. Climbing brings Nami and Sanji injured to meet Dr. Kureha
Before meeting Chopper, Nami was seriously ill, so the Straw Hats had to find a doctor in Drum Kingdom to treat her. While trying to get Nami up the mountain, the castle to meet Dr. Kureha, Sanji was injured by the avalanche. Although Nico Robin seemed to betray Luffy and the others, Luffy continued to trust Robin and chased after her all the way to Enies Lobby. Interesting is Luffy even asked Sogeking to burn the World Government flag and declare war on them. Because he wants to save a friend, Luffy won’t care even if the whole world becomes his enemy.
4. Fasting if Sanji doesn’t come back
Not long ago, when Sanji chose to leave the Straw Hats and marry Pudding, Luffy stated that he would not swallow any food other than those cooked by Sanji. Despite being very hungry and looking thin from not being able to eat, Luffy endured with the belief that Sanji would definitely return to stand with the Straw Hats. No matter how much Sanji hit Luffy, he was determined not to fight back because it was his comrade.
5. Willing to break his arm to save Sanji
Luffy and Nami were captured by Charlotte Mont-d’Or and locked in the Book Prison. Luffy didn’t panic at first, but when he heard about Pudding’s plan to kill Sanji, Luffy immediately tried to break his own arm to escape the prison. Luffy doesn’t care what the fate of his arm will be if he can get out of it and and everyone can survive. Fortunately, Jinbe soon appeared to save Luffy and Nami.
6. Attacking Kaido thinking he killed his crew
Luffy never cared how strong his opponent was, anyone who dared to hurt his comrades would suffer the consequences. Likewise, when Kaido fired a fireball towards Oden Castle, where part of the Straw Hats were, Luffy immediately went mad and attacked Kaido. Luffy doesn’t care about his opponent Yonko, whoever Luffy will still attack him.
However, thanks to the power of Shinobu’s Juku Juku no Mi Devil Fruit, everyone at Oden Castle survived and was uninjured. Luffy didn’t know this and was later defeated by Kaido with 1 hit and was imprisoned.
