Man accused of injecting 90 doses of Covid-19 vaccine

The man from the city of Magdeburg, eastern Germany, is said to have received up to 90 vaccines Covid-19 at vaccination centers for months until being discovered by criminal police in early April.

The suspect was not arrested but is being investigated for illegally issuing vaccination cards and forging documents.

This person was caught red-handed at a center in Eilenburg when he came to receive a dose of Covid-19 vaccine in a row for 2 days. The police confiscated some of his unfilled immunization cards and started criminal proceedings.

It is not clear how the roughly 90 doses of vaccines, of different brands, affect the man’s health.

German police have carried out several raids related to fake vaccine certificates in recent months. Many people refuse to be vaccinated in Germany. But they still want a Covid-19 passport for easier access to public activities and places like restaurants, theatres, swimming pools or workplaces.

Germany has seen a high number of Covid-19 cases for weeks, but some of the measures to prevent the pandemic ended on April 1. Mandatory mask wearing only applies on public transport.

In grocery stores and most cinemas and schools, people no longer have to wear masks.

However, the teachers union had to warn about possible conflicts in the classrooms.

“There is now a danger that students who wear masks may be teased by their classmates. On the other hand, those who don’t wear it also feel pressure.” Heinz-Peter Meidinger, President of the German Teachers’ Association, said.

Mr. Meidinger supported the voluntary commitment of teachers and students to wear masks in class and on school grounds, at least until the two-week Easter holiday (April 17).

The recent increase in the number of Covid-19 infections in Germany – triggered by the Omicron BA.2 variant – is likely to have peaked, health experts say.

On April 2, Germany recorded nearly 200,000 new cases. During the whole pandemic, Germany had 21.6 million cases of Covid-19, more than 130,000 people dead.
