More and more people are discovering the joy of growing bonsai. Watching the green sprouts grow, waiting for each flower bud to open, watching the petals open will help you reduce stress, increase love of life and joy.
Today, I’m going to show you how to make a beautiful mini bonsai from the trash you throw away every day. It sounds absurd, but seeing the sudden transformation of root vegetables, germination and germination of each seed will bring you unexpected joy.
This is not exactly the same as caring tree but has its own fun. At the same time, these potted plants for landscaping are also quite beautiful.
Let’s see what these ornamental plants.
1. Bonsai from grapefruit seeds
At home, I often eat grapefruit, but never again, I take grapefruit seeds to plant. But then, a grandson came to the house and shouted to plant grapefruit. And from playing with it, I discovered an unexpected hobby which is growing bonsai.
I just found a potted plant and buried orange seeds in it. Unexpectedly, they germinate, are placed in the ground and grow into a green, long-lived bonsai pot. The longer it takes, the more attractive and beautiful this bonsai is. And since then, a row of potted plants from the kitchen waste has “found” me.
2. Young pine bonsai
I believe that when many people are walking outside, they will always be picking fruit and seeds. And I just picked up a pinecone.
If I didn’t like growing potted plants, I would never have thought about picking pinecones and making small potted plants.
It’s as simple as finding a cup and planting it in it. It seems to be growing and developing well, as long as the seeds sprout it will definitely grow into a young evergreen tree with lots of green leaves. You see, this bonsai is too sophisticated.
3. Ornamental plants from longan, lychee, and jackfruit seeds
I have a dad who likes to drink tea at home and has a variety of kettles. Recently, he had a cracked kettle and wanted to throw it away. But I took a broken kettle and buried 2 longan seeds in it.
I anxiously waited every day until I saw green sprouts sprout.
This bonsai pot of mine after a year has not changed, except for a few more leaves. This mini longan bonsai is very attractive.
Similarly, you can make mini bonsai from longan seeds, jackfruit seeds. The young leaves of the longan tree are bright pink, very beautiful. The small jackfruit tree has a very high “neck” and is placed next to another tree for a subtle contrast.
4. Bonsai from discarded morning glory rolls.
Buy kale to eat the young part and discard the old part. You can use these scrolls to make aquarium plants. Kale is not afraid of high temperatures or shade, and can be grown anywhere.
You find a bottle, fill it with water, put in the kale and it will become a hydroponic green plant.
Kale takes root very quickly, if the ambient temperature is sufficient, it will take three days to see it take root, look carefully, there are only white spots on the books are the roots.
In about a week, it can grow to less than half a meter, and requires only watering, with no nutrient solution. This is great, isn’t it? These branches will play long, even when the kale is tall, you can cut it in half and keep multiplying new plants.
Soon you have a whole pot full of kale.
5. Bonsai from onion roots
You have probably done a lot of this Bonsai. When buying green onions to use, you cut the roots a bit long and then stick the roots into the ground. Soon you will have a new green parallelogram. Leeks can also be grown hydroponically and grow quickly.
You have to find a small bonsai pot and plant some onion roots and soon there will be interesting bonsai pots to put in the kitchen. If it’s too secretive, you can also disconnect and use it.
6. Decorative mint leaves
When I was learning to grow flowers, I heard the saying: “If you can’t grow mint, don’t plant flowers”. This sentence shows how easy it is to grow mint. You use a glass bottle to insert some mint branches to get a very impressive mini bonsai pot.
This is a mini bonsai that is very useful in the kitchen, has an excellent deodorizing effect and from time to time you can use mint to make delicious drinks.
Don’t accidentally cut the mint stalks. If the mint is too lush or leggy, you can cut a few branches, remove the undersides, and toss them in a pitcher of water.
After a while, the roots can be seen. This mini potted plant gives off a faint fragrance. Whether mint is grown in the ground or hydroponically, it requires sufficient light, otherwise the bonsai will easily become waterlogged, lack nutrients and appear small leaves.
7. Sweet potato bonsai
Sweet potatoes aren’t just for eating. If your sweet potatoes are taking a long time to sprout and sprout, don’t rush to throw them away. You can grow hydroponically into small green plants.
After the leaves sprout you will feel the beauty of the heart. The shape of the leaves and stems are red worthy for you to put on the table as a bonsai.
If the sweet potato has enough leaves, you can cut a few more hydroponic plants and place them indoors at will, it’s totally worth watching.
8. Onion Bonsai
Similarly, if you find onions at home moldy, sprouting, etc. cannot be cooked, you can put the onions in a pot of water and wait for them to sprout branches and leaves.
These twigs can be picked to eat and wait for the leaves to grow back, until the onion runs out of nutrients.
If you think an onion pot isn’t pretty enough, you can dress it up a bit, for example, put a cowhide bag outside a water bottle, it will instantly feel different.
9. Bonsai from the top of the pineapple
Go to the fruit shop to buy pineapples, once cut, remember to bring back the pineapple heads. This is a very good potted plant. You can grow pineapple heads in the ground or hydroponically.
Peel the leaves at the bottom 2 times, find a water bottle with a suitable bottle mouth so that the top of the pineapple can stick directly to the mouth of the bottle, otherwise use a toothpick to fix it.
When adding water, do not let the water cover the bottom of the pineapple, otherwise it will rot.
Pineapple heads grown this way are as beautiful as air pineapples, only needing to change the water once a week. Half a year this bonsai will take root firmly.
If you don’t want to keep it as a houseplant anymore, you can plant it in the ground and there will be pineapples in the future to eat.
10. Bonsai from carrots
Do you like eating carrots? If you eat carrots at home, you can take the heads of carrots with a little pulp, immediately put them in a bowl, add a little water. You will see them growing every day.
If it grows like this, it will take about three weeks. It’s beautiful too, isn’t it?
You can do the same with red beets, white radishes…
11. Bonsai from sunflower seeds
Growing bonsai from sunflower seeds is quite interesting because you will see them grow into a large bonsai and bloom each bright yellow flower, beautiful, full of life.
Sunflowers grow like a miracle of life. But you are sure that the melon seeds you plant are raw melon seeds.
