Regarding the house fire that killed 6 people, the leader of the Nam Tu Liem District Police (Hanoi) said, when executing an emergency search warrant at Tran Thi Thanh Hai’s residence (SN 1993, hometown in Vu Ban, Nam Dinh) the investigators were surprised when this woman’s husband and children were living here.

According to the leader of Nam Tu Liem District Police, Hai and his wife are both employees of a famous restaurant in Hanoi. According to Hai’s husband, both are from Nam Dinh and rent a motel in Hanoi.

In a motel room of less than 20m2, their life went on normally. Hai’s husband did not notice anything different from his wife, even less knowing that Hai was dating CVH (in Tuyen Quang).

Investigation process. The functional forces determined that, despite having a husband and children, at the end of 2019, Hai had a romantic relationship with Mr. H. By the end of January 2022, Hai discovered that Mr. H’s family prevented and disagreed. for two people to get married.

Since then, Hai and Mr. H. have had conflicts and often quarreled. Tired of his lover’s jealousy for no reason, Mr. H. decided to break up, move in accommodation to avoid Hai to stay with his cousin at lane 60, Phu Do street, Phu Do ward. Hai had a conflict with Mr. V. because he thought he was the one who prevented and instigated H. to end his feelings for him, so he intended to take revenge.

On the evening of March 31, Hai bought gasoline and went to Mr. V’s hostel to find his motorbike and set it on fire. After that, the car caught fire and spread quickly to the first floor. The fire caused 1 death, NTMA sister, and 5 injuries including: NMD (SN 1992), BVA (SN 1999), BPT (SN 2018) and TBPN (SN 2020). In terms of property, there were 7 motorbikes whose frames were burned and some motorbikes were partially burned.

The functional forces identified the person who caused the fire as Tran Thi Thanh Hai. At the investigation agency, Hai initially confessed that buying gasoline to set fire to Mr. V’s motorbike (a resident of the boarding house and cousin of Mr. H. – Hai’s boyfriend) led to the fire. Hai also stated that the people started their actions from a conflict in love affairs.
