The US hunts for the shooter who killed 6 people
California police are searching for at least one suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred today in the city of Sacramento, which left six people dead and 10 injured.
Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Leste said officers were patrolling the area when they heard gunfire around 2 a.m. this morning. When the police arrived on the scene, they saw a large crowd on the street and found six people dead. Ten injured people were taken to hospital.
Authorities have not yet been able to determine if one or more suspects are involved and are asking the public for information to help determine who the killer is. People are asked to stay away from the scene located at the corner of 10th and K streets, in an area with many restaurants and bars in the city center.

Sheriff Lester did not give specifics about the type of gun used. She only said that the attacker left “a very chaotic scene”. She also called on witnesses or anyone with video footage of the incident to contact the authorities.
Shortly after the shooting happened, a video posted on Twitter showed people crossing the street as gunfire rang out and several ambulances appeared.
“Words cannot describe my shock and grief this morning,” Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg wrote on Twitter. “We are awaiting more information on exactly what happened in this tragic incident.”
Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, gun violence has increased dramatically in the United States, where gun rights have long been a contentious issue. According to the Gun Violence Archive website, more than 44,000 people will be killed by firearms in the US in 2021, of which 1,517 are minors.
