However, many women don’t even know that they pregnant ectopic like the girl below.

Tieu Tu, 26 this year, lives with his family in Wuhan, Hubei, China. For the past two weeks, for some reason, she’s had frequent stomach pains, sometimes nausea. Thinking it was because of the tiring work, erratic eating, which caused digestive problems, he wasn’t too worried.

A few days ago, while going to work, Tieu Tu felt very tired, a severe stomach ache that made his sweat drop, his face was pale and he fainted on the spot. The co-worker panicked and called an ambulance to take him to the Wuhan Central Hospital (Hou Hu, Wuhan, Hubei, China).

The doctor immediately performed a preliminary examination and then performed a color Doppler ultrasound for Tieu Tu. A large amount of fluid is detected in the abdomen and pelvis, most likely a hematoma. Specifically, in that fluid, there was a fetus around 16 weeks old.

Tieu Tu was in so much pain and panic that he couldn’t hold back his tears. While crying, she kept asking why she was able to get pregnant while still having normal periods. The doctor shook her head and said her pregnancy was very special and dangerous, because she had an ectopic pregnancy.

When she went to the hospital, Tieu Tu found out that she was 16 weeks pregnant, but it was an ectopic pregnancy.

Right after that, Tieu Tu was transferred to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and did some more necessary tests. Given his critical condition, the Deputy Dean of the Department of Tran Anh immediately arranged and carried out emergency surgery for him.

She says that many ectopic pregnancies are misinterpreted as “false menstruation” like Tieu Tu. The difference comes and goes suddenly, the blood is more watery and dark brown in color. The reason is, the fetus develops outside the uterus, so that it can cause cracks in the fallopian tubes, ovaries…

During the operation, he discovered the patient’s right fallopian tube had ruptured, causing severe bleeding and shock. In addition, too large a blood clot, intestinal and pelvic adhesions are more dangerous than the initial diagnosis.

Fortunately, after almost 2 hours of stress in the operating room, the medical team finally managed to save the lives of the mother and child. As Tieu Tu’s recovery was excellent, it was expected that he would be discharged after being hospitalized for about 2 weeks.

Subjects at risk for ectopic pregnancy

If left untreated, an ectopic pregnancy can be life-threatening. So who is at high risk for this condition?

– People with infectious diseases: Women with a fallopian tube infection are the most likely to have an ectopic pregnancy. In addition, women who do not regularly clean their genitals are also at risk for this condition.

– People who have had an abortion: After abortion, a woman can experience some dangerous complications like infection, cervical perforation or bleeding, etc. This can increase the risk of an ectopic pregnancy.

– People with blocked fallopian tubes: If the fallopian tubes become blocked, the fertilized egg can become trapped in the fallopian tube, forcing it to stick here to develop.

– Older women: The rate of ectopic pregnancy is usually higher in women over the age of 35.

– People who are often exposed to secondhand smoke: Women who regularly use or inhale tobacco smoke are at an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. Because tobacco contains nicotine, this substance directly affects the function of the fallopian tubes. After a while, the fallopian tubes become more difficult to move, making it difficult for the fertilized egg to travel through this passage to reach the uterus.
