Kate Festival in Binh Thuan is a national intangible cultural heritage

Kate is a special folk festival with a long history of the Brahmin Cham people in Binh Thuan province. The festival is meant to remember the gods and pray for favorable weather, favorable crops, harmonious couples, and the proliferation of people and things.

On Kate festival, not only Cham people in Binh Thuan but also Cham people living and working everywhere return to reunite and gather with family, friends and relatives.

Binh Thuan province currently has nearly 40,000 Cham people living, concentrated in Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac and Tanh Linh districts.
