According to MAUR, the construction package of Ben Thanh Central Station has reached more than 95% of the volume after about 6 years of construction.

After the renovation of Le Loi Street, it will connect with Nguyen Hue Street to create a busy pedestrian and commercial space in the city center.

Ms. Oanh (a resident living on Le Loi street) said that she had heard from people who work in the Metro project that after returning the site, this place will be planted with trees to create a park-like landscape for a more beautiful ground. . It is expected to be completed by the end of May and will officially remove the barrier at that time.
“About 8 years of living with the fence of this project, when I heard the news that the barrier was about to be dismantled, I was very happy and looking forward. Because since the barrier was erected to build the Metro subway, life and work have changed. Our business faced many difficulties. We couldn’t trade at all, lost revenue, it was also inconvenient to travel, and dust covered everything in the house,” said Ms. Oanh.

Due to difficulties in trading due to barriers for the past 8 years, Ms. Oanh and her relatives took advantage of selling office lunches to take away and take care of cars for workers at the Metro project.
According to Ms. Oanh, living on this “golden land”, the conditions for economic development and business are very favorable, there are many tourists, so everyone here looks forward to each day the barriers are removed.
“I just hope to remove the barrier as quickly as possible. After this project is completed, the site is beautifully landscaped, I will expand my business and expect more tourists to come. Because before the barrier, This place is very vibrant, bustling with trading, and many foreign visitors,” added Ms. Oanh.
Currently, people in the “golden land” area of Le Loi street only temporarily do many different businesses. Like Ms. Oanh’s family, outside of selling water, selling lunch to the office to take away and taking advantage of keeping motorbikes for people working at Metro projects to earn extra income.
In general, the trade here is always in a state of absence of customers, so it is sluggish. The stores all fell into disrepair due to the difficult and narrow aisles that made customers not want to visit.
