The Road Traffic Law provides for the rule of giving way at intersections (article 24). Specifically, when approaching an intersection, vehicle drivers must slow down and give way according to the following regulations:

At the intersection where there is no signal to follow the roundabout, they must give way to vehicles coming from the right; At the intersection where there is a signal to follow the roundabout, the vehicle must give way to the vehicle going on the left;

At an intersection between a non-priority road and a priority road or between a branch road and a main road, vehicles traveling from a non-priority road or branch road must give way to vehicles traveling on the priority road or main road from any direction. next.

Thus, according to the Road Traffic Law, when the vehicles enter the traffic at the intersection, the first rule drivers are required to do is to slow down, then they will comply with the yielding rules.

Regarding sanctions, according to the Decree on sanctioning of administrative violations in the field of road traffic and railways (Decree 100/2019/ND-CP), amended and supplemented by Decree 123/2021/ND -CP, a fine of from 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND for motorcyclists and moped drivers who fail to comply with regulations on giving way at intersections. If you commit the above violation, you will be deprived of the right to use your driving license from 2 months to 4 months.

A fine ranging from VND 300,000 to VND 400,000 shall be imposed on motorcyclists or moped operators who fail to slow down and yield to the right of way when driving from an alley or a branch road to a main road.
