Born and raised in a remote area of ​​Ea O commune, Ea Kar district, Dak Lak province, Thu Ha finds that her hometown is an area that grows a lot of passion fruit, but in the production stages are usually done manually or with rather crude machines. so productivity is not high.

“Therefore, in my mind, I had an idea of ​​​​how to make people less difficult” – Thu Ha shared.

Along with the project team with Ha, Duy An said: “The current manual method of local people is costly in terms of labor costs. If you use a stamping press and centrifuge, the obtained passion fruit will be contaminated with impurities in the peel, causing the finished product to become acrid. In addition, the cost of purchasing, operating and maintaining machines is also a concern.” Therefore, Duy An and Thu Ha decided to find a way to free up labor as well as save operating costs as much as possible.

The semi-automatic passion fruit aspirator works based on a sharp blade to cut and aspirate fluid with a tube. At the same time, the machine operates based on linkage and control by pre-programmed programs, so it will optimize working time and maintenance costs. This control program was programmed by Thu Ha herself with the guidance of her teacher.

Recently, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced 7/12 scientific and technical projects to participate in the international science and technology contest 2022 (ISEF 2022). The project “Design and manufacture of semi-automatic passion fruit juice extractor” of Dong Du Middle & High School students excellently won the first prize at the national level and was named in those 7 projects. This is also the first time that students in Dak Lak province have had a science and technology project to participate in an international competition.

Mr. Le Ngoc Son – Principal of Dong Du Middle & High School shared: “This is a project with high practical applicability and potential for development for widespread production. The project selected to participate in the international competition is a worthy achievement for the continuous efforts of the whole team. This is also a great honor of the school.”

Ms. Luu Thi Thuong – Informatics teacher who directly supported Thu Ha and Duy An in implementing the project commented: “Both Thu Ha and Duy An are very serious and proactive in their research. They don’t mind going to school at 6 am and returning home at night to be able to produce the most complete product.”

The International Science and Technology Competition 2022 (ISEF 2022) will be held online from May 7-13. Currently, both she and Dong Du Middle and High School students are rushing to complete the application documents at the request of the organizers, and at the same time continue to improve and develop products.

“The school and teachers always continue to accompany, create conditions and provide maximum support to the project team so that the children can participate in international competitions with the most confidence,” said Mr. Le Ngoc Son.

In addition to the purpose of participating in the contest, the group hopes that the semi-automatic passion fruit aspirator will meet the standards for mass production and be widely used by people. Currently, the team is working on adding a feature to automatically classify the quality of passion fruit.
