French media confirm Mbappe will stay at PSG

Just a day after Kylian Mbappe’s implicit statement about possibly considering staying at PSG, the French media has made new moves.

In a latest share on RMC Sport, journalist Daniel Riolo said: “Al Khelaifi’s only concern is Mbappe’s movements. I know no one will believe me now, but he will announce the extension next May.”

Earlier, Mbappe said that there are “new factors” affecting his future with PSG after the end of the 2021/22 season. “I still haven’t decided to go or stay,” Mbappe said after the match against Lorient. “Everybody knows that. I’m thinking because there are new elements. There’s a lot of detail and I don’t want to go wrong. I have to make the right decision. I know it’s pretty late, and people talk about it every day.”

In recent matches, Mbappe has always been sung by PSG fans to express his love, even though the home team was eliminated in the 1/8 round Champions League under the hands of Real Madrid. Three other stars, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, and even coach Mauricio Pochettino, received boos again.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo newspaper interpreted Mbappe’s message in a different way, saying that Real Madrid was still calm about the incident: “Florentino Perez is not afraid of losing Mbappe. Mbappe has to say that because he can’t make a big deal about it with almost two months left until the end of the season. The atmosphere will then change completely, he will go from hero to villain.”

Elsewhere, Onze Mondial newspaper even reported that three high-ranking politicians, French President Emmanuel Macron, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Qatar’s emir, would be involved in persuading Mbappe to stay in Paris before the World Cup 2022, at least one more season.

In the summer of 2021, Real Madrid repeatedly asked to buy Mbappe for 160 million euros, then raised to 180 million euros. But PSG is determined not to sell the French star. President Nasser Al Khelaifi tried everything to keep Mbappe staying, and persuaded him to a new contract with good remuneration. Mbappe is said to repeatedly refuse because he wants to join Real.
