Starting a business at the age of 18

Since childhood, Sao Mai has had a passion for pets, but her parents are not supportive of raising them. “In the past, when my parents gave me money for breakfast, I didn’t eat it but saved it, I borrowed more money from friends and relatives to buy a dog. But when I brought it home, my parents didn’t let me adopt it, and after arguing for a year, I couldn’t get along. Parents give 2 options, continue to go to school or if they still want to feed, leave the house.

My parents threatened but didn’t really chase me away, but I left immediately, went out to rent a house near my family. At that time, I was only 18 years old when I entered university. Before that, I also worked part-time to have money to feed my dog ​​and earn extra income. The job is to sell pet dogs, and gradually stick with the profession. From the day I left, I didn’t come back to live with my parents anymore, sometimes 1-2 weeks to visit”, she revealed.

At the time of starting the business, Sao Mai only sold online but was bought a lot by customers in Ho Chi Minh City. Realizing the potential market, she, along with her brother and dog Mat Nam, moved forward to develop the business.

Revealing to find a place to meet her boyfriend, Sao Mai made MC Ngoc Lan jealous and wanted to change jobs immediately. Sao Mai shared: “I was looking for a space, fortunately, I met the owner of the shop who is renting this place as a cafe. We got to know each other and ‘picked up’ the owner of this shop and this premises. He is currently my boyfriend and has been together for 2 years.”

Incomplete marriage and civilized manners

Before coming to her current boyfriend, Sao Mai has been through a marriage and is a single mother of a 5-year-old girl. The girl currently lives with her grandmother in Hanoi, and will soon be moved to Ho Chi Minh City to live near her mother and stabilize her studies.

After the divorce, Sao Mai and her ex-husband still maintain a good relationship, behave civilly with each other, making the two MCs appreciate.

“We all feel very blessed to be fortunate in this life and have a very beautiful and obedient daughter. We may not be destined to go together as husband and wife, but we will still be relatives and families. Both must behave as civilly as possible for the sake of their children. Later, my daughter can have another father and mother, but not because her parents split the road, she makes her daughter disadvantaged and hurt. The person who knows me now is very tolerant and loves her daughter, and that’s lucky for me,” Sao Mai said.

Overcoming the darkness of autism, twice the pain of losing a loved one

During the conversation, MC Ngoc Lan quite subtly realized that Sao Mai’s independence must have been formed from a traumatized past. Sharing more with the female MC, Sao Mai calmed down and choked:

“Before that, my parents divorced. When I was a child, I lived alone, with autism until the age of 15, when I met my stepfather and learned a strong and independent personality from him. I received great love from my father, so I became more confident from autistic children, which was a turning point in my life.

After my father died, my mother was sad, so she shaved her head. Although my father and I do not share blood, it is more than close. I want to say to my father: thank you for appearing in my life, I still want to be your son in the next life.”

Sao Mai has a friend as important as a relative, a dog named Mat – the main character on many of her million-viewed clips. Mat has been with Sao Mai since she was 18 and 19 years old, with her owner starting a business from nothing. In 2017, the dog Mat died of kidney failure, causing Sao Mai and the online community to mourn.

Until now, she still choked: “It was a terrible time for me, it took her more than a year before I dared to talk about it. I can’t accept her leaving.”
