Parents ‘broke’, less scared because elementary and 6th grade students can go to school

Hearing the news that elementary and sixth grade children could go back to school directly from April 6, many parents in the inner city of Hanoi were overwhelmed because this was the first time their children could go to school this school year.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has just agreed with the proposal of the Department of Education and Training for students from grades 1 to 6 in the area to return to school after the break to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic.

Specifically, students from grades 1 to 6 in 30 districts, towns and cities will go to school directly from April 6, 2022 (Wednesday). Students will study weekdays according to the school’s educational plan.

Information about Hanoi’s children returning to school made many parents like opening the flag in their stomachs.

Even many parents wittily joked that this coming April 6 is “the day to liberate the parents of the Capital”.

“The children are going to have a semester exam before they can go to school. Now is ‘spring is here’ – one parent shared.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Quynh (a parent whose child is in 2nd grade in Hoan Kiem district) shared that she cried when she received the news that her child had returned to school. Because this is the first time in this school year, her 2nd grade son can go to school. In the past time, she and her husband have been miserable and asked someone to look after and tutor their children to study at home to go to work.

“Since entering 2nd grade until now, I have not been able to go to school, only met her via Zoom. Hearing the news that students were returning to school, both mother and child were devastated. Children going to school to meet friends, being taught by the teacher in person will certainly be more effective than learning online. The most important thing is that children go to school to communicate and meet friends, instead of sitting in a corner with a computer screen”, Quynh said that she somewhat reduced her anxiety and fear after some incidents with students. recently.

Ms. Le Thao (Ha Dong district) also expressed her excitement: “When I heard that my son was going to school, I felt light-headed, since the child was still young, staying at home was also hurtful. I can go to school, even if I haven’t cleaned up a bit of dust, it’s okay.”

Thao and many parents plan to go to the supermarket today to buy some new clothes for their children, because this year, they are only at home, Dong Phuc, shoes are also short and tight.

Ms. Pham Thi Huyen, teacher of Phu La Primary School (Ha Dong district, Hanoi) shared: “I see going back to school now as a gift for students. Because they have not been to school for a long time, especially the first students. Although the epidemic is still there, parents can rest assured that the school and teachers will try to bring their children full joy.”

Ms. Huyen said that going back to school at the end of the school year has more spiritual meaning than knowledge. “It’s more than a month until the final exams, but the atmosphere and the spirit of learning are what’s important. Going back to school also gives them the opportunity to review their knowledge more thoroughly.”

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, Principal of Marie Curie School, said that the return of students to school this time is a great happiness.

“Because the policy of the leaders of Hanoi city for students to return to school is a necessary condition, while a sufficient condition is implementation – depends on the parents of the students. If the top is favorable but the bottom is not, it is also difficult to implement. But this time, through the survey, more than 94% of parents in grade 6 of the school want their children to go to school as soon as possible; in primary school is 92%. Previously, when surveying parents’ psychology, only about 30-40% of the consensus was reached,” Mr. Khang said.

Mr. Khang said, currently, the school is implementing preparations to welcome students, especially rebuilding the timetable from online to face-to-face, preparing a cafeteria,…

“The work at this time is still as new as the first day of school in a new school year. But now it can be said that it is the beginning of school before the closing ceremony, not to prepare for the opening ceremony.”

For Ms. Thanh Mai, Principal of Le Quy Don Primary School (Ha Dong District), this will be the first time in the school year that she and her teachers will be able to meet students face-to-face.

“In fact, due to the epidemic, stopping going to school has been going on for too long. Students are not allowed to meet and communicate with teachers and friends; Staying at home a lot also gives rise to psychological problems.

Not to mention, face-to-face teaching will ensure the quality and progress of the curriculum framework than online; less hard work for both you and the students”.

Mai said, in order to welcome students to school from April 6 to be safe and thoughtful, the school will have a meeting and clearly assign tasks to each staff. Today, the school will clean and sanitize the classroom, prepare well for the day-to-day eating and sleeping, school health, electricity and water checks, etc., after a long hiatus.

“We are also very interested in cleaning the dining area, the kitchen; wash and re-wash the students’ bedding,… Basically, to ensure the prevention of epidemics,” said Ms. Mai.

Sharing with VietNamNet, some parents said that, after sending primary school students back to school, the leaders of Hanoi city and the Department of Education and Training should consider expanding this for preschool children soon.

Ms. Huyen Linh (a parent with 2 children in primary and preschool in Hoang Mai district) suggested that preschool children should be returned to school soon instead of “many families have to send their children to underground care classes”. .

“For preschool children, I think they should go to school, because it is more difficult for them to go to school underground; suffering children, suffering families.

Preschool and kindergarten children are actually the most disadvantaged compared to other educational levels. Because the siblings stopped going to school but still learned, at least they could still interact and talk with her online. As for preschool and kindergarten children, they can only do some activities according to the instructions of the clip and their parents, some children do not. My child was a little interested at first, but then got bored and now refuses to watch the clips and then follows along so that mom can record the action video. Now, being able to interact, play with you is probably something that your child enjoys more than anything. Not to mention, the preschool teachers themselves in many institutions are exhausted because they haven’t been to school for a long time.”

Ms. Le Minh Phuong (a parent in Thanh Xuan district) shared: “Children of preschool age compared to grade 1 children are not too much different. Meanwhile, preschool children require more adult care than primary school children. Sending preschool children to school will reduce pressure on parents in arranging jobs and people to look after the children.
