Personalized training model: Turning ‘potential’ into ‘talent’

The personalized talent training model at GATE Center (Vinschool) not only helps unlock their potential but also becomes a launching pad for many students to confidently reach out to the world.

Bringing wings to dreams and passions for science and art

Nguyen Tu Minh, a student of class 12B1, Vinschool The Harmony High School (Hanoi), has just been admitted to the Biology major, Cambridge University, UK. Looking at Tu Minh’s “dreamlike” achievements, everyone must admit that the result is worthy.

When he first joined the GATE Center (Vinschool’s Talent Development and Consulting Center), Tu Minh was an 8th grade boy with a special passion for Biology. In just three years, with the companionship and guidance of leading experts, Minh has participated in three major studies. In which, the topic “Role of some important protein-coding genes in the phenotype and pathogenicity of mucor circinelloides” was selected to be presented at the National Biotechnology Conference held last. 2021. This study has contributed to the search for radical therapies for black fungus mucormycosis. It is the third most common filamentous fungal infection in the world, with a mortality rate as high as 50 to 80%.

At GATE Center, there are many students who have been given suitable opportunities and have determined their future direction like Tu Minh. In the artistic aspect, 18-year-old Trinh Minh Ngoc has just joined the Art Talk “Gen Z and the pursuit of Fine Arts” as a talented student in the field of Fine Arts at GATE Center. At the workshop, as a seasoned artist, Minh Ngoc answered questions from fellow students regarding appropriate career and major orientation when pursuing Fine Arts.

Previously, painting with Minh Ngoc was only a hobby, without a specific development orientation. Since being supported by experts and artists invited to teach by GATE Center, female students have been able to access many new art materials and know how to come up with ideas for a complete work. “I realized that drawing is not just about holding a brush and coloring. Instead, the work needs to show the artist’s intention, each detail must have some meaning,” Ngoc said.

Not only science, art, students at GATE Center continuously assert themselves in many other fields. At the end of November 2021, three talented students of the STEM – Robotics group including Nguyen Duy Phong, Nguyen Huyen Kha, Dang Quang Minh represented Vietnam to win the high prize in the final round of the International Robot Olympiad (World Robot Olympiad – World Robot Olympiad – World Robot Olympiad). WRO), after excellently won the National Championship of Group B2.

Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Linh, a talented student in the field of Social Sciences, was also awarded the World Gold Award in the Film category (high school age) of the Competition of Sea Awareness – Bow Seat 2021. Join the GATE Center When she was a 6th grader with a love of storytelling and a special interest in the environment, Thuy Linh was facilitated to turn her passion into action. With the theme “Sea level rise” (Water Rising), Thuy Linh brings to Bow Seat 2021 professional and meaningful footage to call on society to join hands to act for the environment.

One thing these students have in common is that they all have potential and dreams in a particular field. Having access to appropriate educational opportunities and models has helped them “discover” their potential.

Talent training in a personalized model

With the motto of student-centered and personalized education, while recognizing the special learning needs of talented students, GATE Center was established in 2018 by Vinschool Education System to provide students with An ideal environment for maximum talent development.

“Talented students with special abilities need a curriculum that emphasizes differentiation, enhances challenge, and comes with unique services. The GATE Center has made every effort to meet this practical and urgent need of the children,” said Ms. Trinh Khanh Huyen, Coordinator of the GATE Center.

When participating in the training program at the GATE Center, each student has an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP), which is developed through the cooperation of experts, schools, families and the student. ALP is designed with specialized study programs, extracurricular activities, national and international competitions to match the goals and desires of the children and their families. In particular, a student can be supported by 2-3 mentors who both teach knowledge and skills.

Workshop “Robot EV3 – Robot Warrior Competition” was organized by Talented Students in the field of STEM – Robotics (GATE Center) to introduce interesting knowledge about robots and participate in competition activities together. Simulating famous robot competitions in the world.

In case students aim to participate in national and international competitions, experts at GATE Center will help them improve their knowledge and perfect the appropriate skills. “However, the choice of whether or not to take the exam depends entirely on the student’s wishes. For children who are not oriented to participate in competitions, the Center will have many different forms of support and training to serve their development needs,” said Ms. Trinh Khanh Huyen.

After 4 years of operation, GATE Center has reaped many “sweet fruits”. Tu Minh affirmed that, at the age of 15-17, friends had few opportunities to approach or be facilitated to pursue his passion for science. “Not only does it help me develop myself, the research that I participate in during my study at GATE Center is also a big plus in my study abroad profile,” Tu Minh revealed.

As for Minh Ngoc, after Art Talk “Gen Z and the pursuit of Fine Arts” ended, the female student is working on a personal art project with the support of many experienced artists. In the coming time, I am ready for the journey to pursue a professional graphic design major at a famous university in the world.

Consistent with the philosophy of personalized education, GATE Center is considered a “launching pad” to help many students pursue their dreams, discover themselves and confidently reach out to the world.
