Samsung officially stops supporting updates for the Galaxy S9 series

Last March, the line Galaxy S9 received the latest Android security update even though it’s not part of Samsung’s plan. However, this is also the final update for this 4-year-old smartphone.

Recently, Samsung deleted the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus duo on its security update page. In the past, the Korean manufacturer has downgraded the Galaxy S9 to a quarterly update schedule – something that usually happens when a model of its product is in the final year of support.

Despite being maintained with security updates until 2022, however, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus have been stopped from updating Android from One UI 2.5 version based on Android 10. If you want to update to higher Android versions, users users are forced to do it manually in an informal way.

In addition to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus duo, Samsung also downgraded the Galaxy S10 to quarterly updates instead of monthly updates. This means that the Galaxy S10 series will officially stop supporting updates at the same time next year.
