He spent 50 years as a mandarin with 5 kings, becoming a great mandarin of the Le dynasty. One of his best students became a scientist – Le Quy Don label.

When he was a mandarin, because he brought up the eunuchs’ work or asked for help, begging in litigation to speak at the government of Thiet Tee. Covering the Lord Trinh, the Lord sent someone to ask him to punish them, but he did not answer who it was.

Suddenly, Trinh manor asked the mandarins to serve, but no one was waiting. The Lord asked the person who came to the room to say that it was actually the mandarins about the death anniversary of the teacher’s house in Hao Nam. The Lord also waited until the next day, when the work was done, he summoned the officials to serve.

Not only training the country with many talents, Vu Thanh also directly taught him and his son to be successful. In the Nham Thin exam, with the year Vinh Thinh 8 (1712), his younger brother Vu Huyen and his son Vu Huy both passed the Third Armored Bronze degree. Therefore, folk still circulate the song: “Dong dynasty three doctors / Nhat Nhat bi Vinh Quy” – that is: In the same king’s reign, there are three people in the family who get doctorate / One day, in them there are twice honored.
